Title: Lower Fraser Oct.1st...
Post by: *Lil Fisherman* on October 01, 2006, 07:07:36 PM
Decided to hit up the lower for some dino fishing today...to no avail :'(
After about three hours I decided to bring in the sturg rod and start casting for some whitefish or anything splashing around. Simply using a few split shots small hook and some left over sox roe. Slow retreving near the bottom when I get a big strike! :o
I could tell that this was no pike minnow. Turned out to be a nice dolly around 15inches. Pictures might be up later. Computer is not working well with pics ???
No dino's but one dolly.

Job well done  . Went diving for lures in the Fraser Sunday and the visibility was about 2 inches. Could not find my way to my favourite log. and no fish around jumping.

There is a bait ban on salmon fishing until October 6th.

Not sure why it isn't also in effect for trout fishing, because it makes no sense to have a bait ban at all if one can justify his or her bait use by suggesting he or she is targeting another species.

PS. I'm not implying you did something wrong *Lil Fisherman*, I'm just suggesting the regulations are once again poorly planned out to meet the objectives behind them. Nice fish. :)

Yup, as the regs state, bait ban is in affect for salmon fishing. However fishing with sturgeon gear, I was obviously not expecting to catch a salmon ;D
And as for spinning with a little peice of roe...it was behind the dock...for whitefish :P
But once the bait ban closes, I will be down the lower again to try out some bar fishing. :-[
