Ok, this may have been discussed before and maybe it's an inside joke. But what the @#$% is with the bicep shots and other semi-nudes? Maybe this could be expected on a bodybuilding forum, or a dating forum or something...but a fishing forum? Does anyone else find these shots hilarious and completely out of place? Just curious what compels you guys to post pictures of your pipes on the net, on a fishing forum at that? ??? ???

I'll be the first to admin, my 'guns' are more like a pathetic BB gun, but hey, let's be real. I'm not on a fishing site to compary my junior BB guns with some big machenery that's out there. I'm here to talk fishing ;)

Guys whining about it and calling people who take any amount of time to actually look after themselves losers!! ::) Get a life man, there are more important things in life and fishing then whining about this!! Pathetic really. I was going to change it after a good laugh, but now I think the only thiing I will change it up with other is Bodybuilding shots! ;) Thanks!

I think an Avatar is no longer "small" when you need a scroll bar to view it!!! In fact it seems to me that the biggest avatars on this site are of guys biceps. I am not calling you a loser for taking care of yourself. Hell, thats awesome that you do. I just think its pretty pathetic that you have to post a shot of your big pipes as an avatar on a fishing site. I mean I am pretty sure the last thing I want to have to stare at when I read posts on this site is a bunch of guys biceps (a fish would be nice).
Keep posting your bodybuidling shots, but please for the love of god no Glutes!!!

I won't beat anyone in arm wrestling, but lets roll some sub-grappling/bjj or some mma! ;)
I've cut down to meet the lower weight class now, no more fighting monsters for me.
I used to like bodybuilding, but found at a higher weight I felt I sacrificed some quickness and stamina on the mats, now as I approach middle-age I'm looking to stay lean and flexible.

Its kinda rediculous. You don't have to pump weight to be healthy. A balanced diet and excersize is all you really need. I'm lacking in the excersize department, thats why i'm looking to get on a hockey team again. With bodybuilding there is always the temptation to use roids. I'll stay away from that thank you very much. And really these "gun" shots are all just ego boosters and for bragging rights. Why dont we keep it to fishing?
and if its not fishing atleast make it a pretty lady. ;D

We're just voicing our opinions on what we think. I think i started a new trend of using our female friends, acquiantances, girlfriends, and wives as our avatars. You should join in bryan.
I mean this in the sence that any woman is better than seeing you guys all half naked.

Think you all need to fish more.....Who really cares what a guy/gurl puts in their avator...If you consider these shots bad would you complain about chicxwithsticks avator on another website? It's ridiculus and I find the off beat humor in it actually funny...I'm gonna have to figure a way I can take a shot of my old pipes and push um up a Little to make it look good..think it would be a hilarious thing if everyone put their guns in for a week...

I like all the chixwithsticks avtars they make me happy! I agree with almost everybody on this one. It is a bit wierd to put the pipes on the internet, but I agree with all who say it dosen't really matter and that it is a little funny.
Maybe it is good to know who is big so we can be nice to them and they don't throw us medium-small dudes in at the river?
The body builder pics are a very unique feature on this site that is all I can say for sure!
Sorry to be so wishy washy but I am just a medium sized dude lookin out for #1

There are a few people on this site that work hard in the gym , they eat healthy and dedicate their lives to looking and feeling good, instead of going to the bar and eating greasy food and drinking endless glasses of beer they spend their time in a gym or on a track working hard.. Myself as a Bodybuilder I put many many hours every week into my training, to me it is very important and is a huge part of my life.. Why would anyone want to put me down for that?? why would someone call me a muscle head because I like to be healthy and strong?? If you don't workout and you don't care about it so be it !! why would you insult someone for it??? I see it as jealousy , that is the only explanation I can think of... this is a website full of friends and aquaintances and we share all parts of our life on here not just fishing, if you don't want to be part of it then don't.. but don't sit there and out down something that is very imprtant to me and many others on this site!!! in the end it just makes you look foolish and immature..
and one more thing IH8XC ... there are many strereotypes out there regarding BB .. why would you want to be one of the misinformed and say something typical and inacurrate??? just because someone trains hard and Bodybuilds doesn't mean they are tempted to do steroids, if you were to really look into it you would find that only a very small % of BB actually use drugs !!! it is a stoopid and uneducated thing to say and I for one take it very personally because Bodybuilding is a huge part of my life, it is my work and a big part of my social life... please do some research before you say such things in the future

What would you guys do in general if some guy walked up to you and started flexing his muscles in your face...you might think he is trying to intimidate you, you might think he's being a show off, you might just think what a chump, and turn around and walk away. Without a specific context, its kinda hard to interpret the action.
Now, consider that some of us are good friends with other members, but for the most part we are a bunch of strangers...and you're now flexing your muscles in everyones' face! I personally, wouldn't expect anyone here to be interested in seeing a shot of my flexing bicept unless its holding up a big red spring I jsut flossed ;). Bottom line is that we are on this site because of our shared interest in fishing...I know there are lots of Body building web sites out there...guess what, I have never been to a single one, just not that interested in that sport right now!
So to all those guys who choose to put up pictures like that, just keep in mind that really not many people here share your level of enthusiasm and interest for body building. So what impression do those pics make in general (on someone who doesnt give a turd), they probably think your jsut a bunch of show offs.
Personally I can't say I am surprised with the reactions in general as I too think those shots are kinda out of place for a fishing web site...but thats just me!

I guess Gooey I have a hard time seeing the relevance in what you are saying !! someone posting a pic on here or talking about training can hardly be compared ( even remotely) to someone flexing their muscles in your face... How do you make that comparison???? pics on here are harmless , if you don't wanna look at them then don't, I am sure you can pick apart many of the avatars on here as most of them aren't fishing related on a whole !!!
Aside from that I understand that most of the exchanges that go on on this forum are good natured, but sometimes people cross the line from funny to insulting, and that is where the problem starts !!

I agree, we all need to be civil. My point was that most people here aren't interested in bodybuilding/those type of pics so they probably seem out of context to most people.

Huh, pretty funny. Obviously this is a contentious issue for many. I'm 'sticking to my guns' on this one though! ;D I still find it bizarre and somewhat humorous to post pictures of your body on a fishing website. To answer a few rants: no, I'm not jealous of your guns guys! Yes, they're bigger than mine but...who cares? Anyways, some have said that it doesn't matter what anyone's avatar (?) is, as long as it doesn't offend anyone. I have to agree, and while your guns certainly don't offend me, don't be surprised if a handfull of us laugh and find it somewhat difficult to take you seriously if we run into you on the river.
Right...back to fishing! Time to get back on West Coast Rivers (Nitinat, San Juan...aaaaaahhhhh).

Coastal I respect your opinion, like you said to each his/her own .. I personally just finished preparing for a BB show and I got an enormous amount of help and support from the members of this forum, and I think it is great that we can talk about more than just fishing on here, I agree that the Avatars should be tasteful and so far I think most have kept it that way, hopefully one day we can meet on the flow... and I joke around so much anyways I don't expect you to take me seriously :)

There are a ton of good Avatars and signatures on this site.
Who cares if someone wants to show there muscles. It's actually kinda entertaining. This is the General Discussion area and it's neat that you can learn about someones interests from there Avatar.
My son works out and it's amazing how defined and big he is getting. He loves all the shots in the Avatars.
As far as heavily muscled guys going down. Absolutely ;).
When I boxed, I loved fighting the heavily muscled guys. By the time the 5th to 7th round came up they were usually looking up at the ceiling. Those big guns get real heavy after swinging them for awhile.
The secret was don't get hit by them to often.
Some of you have to relax and understand the context the Avatars are posted in. :)

hey, who gives a $#%^ what these guys post as avatars??? What difference does it make. Sure, its kinda what youd expect to see in a gay fishing forum and sure, it seems vain, but really, its no big deal. These guys share some common interests and are having fun with it, so leave em' alone. When they start planning fishing trips up to remote mountain lakes thats when you start poking fun!
Live and let live when it comes to this kind of stuff guys, it makes life alot more enjoyable.

My question is... What do the legs look like? Is everyone here a true BB or just tend to concentrate on the uppers while the lowers get skinnier. :) I always found it funny to walk into a shower in the gym and see this HUGE guy (to clarify - large muscles and pecs) with legs smaller than mine.
