And if you don't have time that looks like it would make a mighty fine ashtray! ;D I am just kidding, thats some reel dedication, and I can't wait to see the next picture... but how about making a nice fly reel? I volunteer to test it out for you.
Good luck
El Cinco
PS, whats the story behind building one? Are you an aspiring machinist combined with a crazy fisher?
-
well it took alot of planning and lots of pictures of a 650 dollar reel taken apart.
it is my second life besides fishing
i like metal class and the new school helps out aloy with there 13000$ lathes ;D ;D
-
keep er goin nick.
-
So whats the update?
-
well i fishied one piece awhile ago but i havent ben able to get to the lathe for a while between working and all these dam prodee days. ::) ::)
so here is one final peice and i am thinking of anadoizing it gold or blue ;D

-
shouldn't you drill all your holes for reel seat and clicker before anodizing??? If you don't there is really no point in anodizing at all. except for looks.
-
i got the clicker and i am just have to make the spool so i can mount it properly. then i will think of idozing it or i will polish it and clear coat it.
I am still lokking for some bearng tho :-\but my dad said he might be able to get it from his work or order some stainless bearing
-
lookin good nick
-
when do you think youll be finished?
-
when i can use the lathe and get some bearings so i can start the next peice ;D
-
Outta curiousity, how much does that first piece (presumably the backplate) weigh?
Keep up the good work.
-
