Title: The Journal Feb. 14, 15, 16 On The Vedder.
Post by: chris gadsden on February 16, 2006, 09:10:15 PM
Sorry I had the journal of the last three days just about completed and gremlins took over and it was all lost. Maybe it was the title "A Nightmare On The Vedder" that did it in? ;D

I am too tired after a day fishing in the wind and cold to redo it. I have not hit a fish in the last three days even though I saw a few taken today. It was a bad day for me as The Maple Leaf Drennan that was in on 18 of the 19 fish I have landed this year met an untimely end. :'( :( I may call out a search party for it tomorrow. ;D I also shattered its replacement on a tree but I did find two others but they do not replace MLD #1. :(

The bright spot was "The Master" and bederko connected with a pair of 13 pound hatchery does on Wednesday night. If things work out we will post the pictures later and let me tell you they will make your mouth water like it does mine.

Sorry to the Macdonald's morning coffee crew once again not much of a report for you. I was surprised when DB reported to me at The Chilliwack River Action Committee meeting yesterday they were suffering "Journal" withdrawl symptoms. ;D ;D

Anyway as the saying goes "a picture tells a thousand words" so in this case the picture will have to take the place of "The Journal" for the last 3 days. ;D ;D

Aahhhhhhhh!!!!!... I got my fix. Thanks Chris.

I was going to head out tomorrow but with the predicted cold and windy weather coming, I will skip it- maybe until Saturday.

Most likely a very good idea. The wind is blowing even stronger now as I can hear it howling as I type this. O, I forgot to mention in my earlier post.Today I saw two schools of fry, the first of the year. When I visited with "The Master " today he said that he was expecting the first to appear anytime and there they were today. He tells me they would be pinks, as they are the first to hatch. They sure were nervous little guys and I am not surprised as the diving ducks were working the area today as well.

Today I saw another angler pull up a wild steelhead way up on the beach. I heard him say he could not see a fin at first.

A tip to remember, actually it is not a tip but should be a requirement. Leave the fish well in the water and check for that fin before you start dragging that fish ashore. The trouble is some anglers are so anxious to catch a steelhead that they do not take the proper percautions. :(

Hi Chris,

Great to have you back. Even if I can't catch one at least we all get to see a few pics. On another note I got a great picture last weekend that maybe Rod can post for me.

Tight lines and best of luck.

Tim
