Title: great day on the vedder feb 12
Post by: ko on February 12, 2006, 07:06:16 PM
the weekend started buy the wife and i buying her a new river set up so we can spend our quality time together 900.00 dollars latter were all set to hit the river so shes excited already and so am i im hoping she hits her first vedder steelie and im hoping to get my first on the center pin she has a center pin also . so we get up around 9am head to hub buy the gear and off to the river we go . first stop upper river the water is clear and assessable everywhere sun shining no wind just amazing . we fish a nice pool but no fish i give a few pointer's and we head out . shes doing great on the pin getting the hang of it . which is good for me it means more time in the water for me. so we head down to selesse area upon arriving one guy leaving with a nice 14lb buck . i envied him for as i have been out 4 times and have not got anything but seen fish everywhere. we keep walking eying the water and come to conclusion that theres a nice piece of water to fish , we start at the top of the run and start bouncing down a few casts in a slot and doink, doink ,doink a nice 6lb wild doe tailed a couple of pictures and a successful release .i was pretty excited for as my first steelie on the pin and of the year.after the excitement we head out grab some grub hit freds and back to the river .we decide mid river ,now we have a belly full it feels like a fresh start . we start at the top of the run again bouncing down thought comes to mind so i raise the float about five inches and the fight was on another chrome doe , about 12lbs tailed , and another successful release . so the day came to a end driving home and both of us saying that was a great day.

Went for a walk along the Vedder today since I hadn't been out there in a while and it was a circus with all the people walking along the dyke. The parking lots of Peach and Lickman looked liked they do when they open Socs in the Fraser. Anyways the people I talked to didn't report of hitting anything but I did find a pretty freshly killed Beaver with it's tail chopped off in the salmon rearing stream beside Lickman, can't think of the name of it right now. Looks like someone killed it just for the tail. Sad sight to see, although now I know where the term Beaver teeth now comes from after getting a look at them monsters  ;D
