Hi Chris G and to all F.W.R. members. My time has come to join F.W.R As I started to fish today met up with Chirs G.And I said that if I bagged a silver ghost that I would join up and try to do my first post on F.W.R As I always enjoyed Chris G journals. As reading them you think that you were on the flow next to Chris .My day started good quick stop a Timmy’s for an extra large dd.
I arrived 600 not bad from Maple ridge I started at the steely mans run but I notice the water was down a bit. Heh so off to slow start oh well just great to be out a fish would be a bonanza. A cross the way a Spey fisher had a nice fish on that was it for first light. Just then a small steely was on and was released to continue on journey. I watched
( drenn)my floats it drifted down the current, it took a slight dip, as I was about to hammer the float down my right My leg was taking on water( a Bandon ship )my bare black waters were leaking. as turn my left leg was filling with water. Just then the steely wanted nothing to do with me boo fish off as I walk out of the water to empty my waders the steely jump as if I had to say ha-ha leaky waders.
I went back try a little longer as hypothermia got to me. I went up the river for the next run to try a few side runs no takers. Finally the sun came out time to dry my waders. I went back to the lower run tried their for a bit as I walked back down the trail, no one was working. The steely man run. I started higher up and cast into a little side pocket by the trees. My float wobbled and all of a sudden bam! FISH ON! I felt the weight of it, as it started to make his run to the fast part of the current I couldn’t hold him. It busted me off, snapped my leader.
Got my mojo back up, tied on a new leader and put on a roe bag. I short floated in the same run again. In a matter of minutes my float went down again the fight was on, ya Mon! I chased it down the stream with my arm out (stretched) my milner was just a screaming, water was coming in my waders; my only thought was landing this fish! I thought it was a wild doe, until I got it close it was nice 12-13 lb hatchery a pure chrome bar of silver. WOW! The thoughts of water in my leg disappeared while my mind was set on this beauty of a fish. As I waded down I asked Chris G If he would take my picture, I was very happy he was there I promised him I would post it on the sight .
Cheers
