I voted for buy...but sometimes I just bum this off my brother who ties! I really should learn to do this myself! ;D My favorite one he's made is the one he made with my dog's fur. YES we caught fish with it! Gotta love the "Hanako fly" ;D

Interesting to see that most people who use fly's also ty them, or at least the ones who voted in the pole.

Man! I knew you could use dog hair for flies. I thought i was just crazy for thinking of using dog hair. :)

It's from my Shiba inu. (Japanese breed dog. She has some neat fur, golden in color, but kinda coarse, depending on where on her body you get it from (when she's shedding of course!) When my brother and I went fishing and he actually caught something with it, we were laughing in hysterics! too funny.

I tie mine own and have been doing it for 16 years now :P Here's one of my own patterns in action (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/albums/Stillwaters/Real_Damsel.thumb.jpg) (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/member/gallery/Stillwaters/Real_Damsel)

killer damsel!

I use my SouBoo (South Cariboo Special) when the damsels are moving. Bwi this is another one of my unconvetional patterns, it looks more like a crankbait than a fly when it is moving in the Water; but it works like a hot dam. This one has a reversed hackle, my guess is that's the trick.
