Woke up late this morning and was pleasantly surprised to look out my window to see that it was sunny. This after a torrential rainfall overnight. Had a leisurely lunch I decided to give my local flow a try. Upon arriving at the spot where I hooked 3 last week I noticed that the river was up approximately a foot. Water visibility was approximately 5 feet. There was nobody on the section I was fishing. :) Was this a sign of things to come ? Anyway I took my time rigging up. I decided to start with what brought me luck last time - a coho roe bag. On my first cast down the seam I felt several tugs but the float didn't go down. I set the hook anyways and nothing. :( I systematically covered the run using roe bags then going back up to the top and covering it again with roe, jensen eggs and blades. I just had the feeling that there had to be a steelhead in that run. Just before heading to another run I decided to give it one last try using a cured prawn. Sure enough second cast a steelhead arose from the depth and surfaced right next to my float. :'( I flogged that run for another 15 minutes before trying several other runs before heading home. Tomorrow is another day.
