Title: Stave River October 9th
Post by: newsman on October 10, 2005, 01:43:23 PM
Fished the Stave for six hours on the nineth hit lots of chum on my Mat green. Landed 8 black beasts & 1 big doe all too dark for smoking. Got spooled once by I don't know what that stripped my whole quarter mile of backing (One run, no rolls, no jumps, just bam and gone. Never even got a look at it.). Lost it trying to horse it back to gain some line. Also landed five pinks with a Happy Hooker. 4 humped males and 1 clean doe. No coho in sight. The rain should improve things.

I was at the stave yesterday - could have sworn I had a chum by the tail - I had a hell of a time getting him in

Turns out I had him by the mouth - Am I right in thinking the chum in the stave are bigger this year - they look like horses

I once heard of a buddy that caught crabs from a toilet bowl but never a salmon.

::) :D Trout Slayer does speak from experience... Watch out! ;)

I enjoy fishing at the toilet bowl occasionally, when it is not crowded. We've done well catching the odd adult coho, some coho jacks and chum from it. In the summer time it's pretty good for spincasting for trout and various coarse fish species. :)

Me and the_roe_man are regulars at the stave river toilet bowl. We fish there 2-3 times a week in the morning. We fish for coho and jack coho. Quite successful

Haha.. I dislike that place.. once there were even a few boats in the middle.. I mean literally your hook would land 2 metres away from them! haha

Yes the Chum seem bigger this year. Yes the Happy Hooker is a fly; it came out of Oregon. Yes I am using Pink Happy Hookers.
