I went to the Cap at 1pm on Thursday to see if I could see any fish moving and to make sure I didn't miss the rush of fish like I always seem to do every year. Well the water was still quite low, I guess the water behind the dam was pretty low and they are filling it up. It was chocolate milk! I don't think I have ever seen the Cap that dirty before. I wonder if it's from the construction over the summer.
Anyway, no fish moving in the upper river anyway. I was the only sole there, and I didn't see a single fish. I went to the hatchery to see if maybe they were sneaking by me, but the only fish coming in the hatchery were very dark. Obviously from sitting in cable pool for a while. I was hoping to have some coho without having to make the trip out to the valley, but it looks like we will need some more rain to fill up the dam in order to get some fish into the cap.

I often snorkel the cap and there are very few fish period in the cable pool up to the hatchery and the ones that are there arent worth fishing.
On a side note, before I dive I usually talk to the gate house (guys that control the dam). Last dive he told me the dam is locked down and will need a month of rain before it budges (that was 2 weeks ago)....sounds like the last couple of days havent made a difference.

it's pretty dirty up there, but it was clearing up today. there is a lot more water, so the wier builders were not in action. hopefully some fish start making a move soon.

Fished it for an hour this afternoon. Water visibility decent. Managed to hook one chrome coho. No sign of fish moving through.

Fished the chuck friday 3 till dark and it was the dead sea, (50 boats - 1 coho)
I thought for sure the fish had moved up. A bit surprised to read reports indicating otherwise.
