Title: Sunglasses ?
Post by: Spudcote on September 22, 2005, 05:42:23 PM
As a lot of poeple know, a good pair of polarized glasses can make a difference on the river, lake or ocean. Not only do the glasses protect your eyes, but they can often give you an advantage when spotting fish and obstructions in the water.

What type of glasses have you found to be the best ? for both quality and price ? and on a lesser note, would you feel comfortable wearing the same glasses around the city ?  :P ::)

Wow, I thought mine were expensive !!!  :o I picked up some Maui Jim's recently and really like them. Comfortable, and "shed the wind" well when cruising in a boat. They're advertised as being "polarized from all angles" or something like that. They set me back ~$210, but from what a few friends have told me, they are well worth it, and they havn't looked back.  8)

I used to get the cheaper glasses, they work, but I kept losing them, but I stopped caring ::) now that these ones cost a little more, I guess I'll be a bit more careful ;D at least that's my logic... :-\

No worries at all wearing them around the city, feels like you're not even wearing them.

That logic works for me. I always loose things. But when I get better ones, that a re a few more times its price, I don't loose them as much. Cause it keeps on reminding me not to loose such an expensive material. lol

I've used the Rapala's in the past and got them at Canadian Tire.  Gotta  say for the price, they are  good value sunglasses.  I've got the Cocoons and they fit over my glasses.  (Time to laser next year, I think).  They work well. look okay considering they are big enough to fit over my glasses and are comfortable.  Got them at Michael and Young's.

Optic Nerve for me, seem like decent enough glasses for the price.

London Drugs got a 40% clearance sale on their sunglasses. i can't remember the brands, but the regular price is $29.99 - 34.99 .  not just polarized, but also the carbon coated and scratch resistant sport/driving sunglasses. some include carrying cases.

walmart also sells great polarized sunglasses at about $23 .

I use Maui Jim all the way.  I believe it is the best quality in the market.  I used all kind, from Rayban, Oakley, Serengeti, etc.  Nothing beats Maui Jim's anti-glare technology.

When fishing, you can see deep into the water with excellent depth perception.  Knowing how deep the fish are allows me to set up my gear for proper presentation.
