Went out to the Harrison today with IH8XC. We were planning to target pinks on the fly and using light rods with spoons. We planned to be leaving by 6 and didnt get going till around 7. ;D On the way out we stopped at Tim Horton's for breakfast. While there, Randog pulls up and is getting ready for a charter. BTW I went out with him last night for some Sturgeon action, Randy landing the biggest at a near 6 feet and me bringing in 4 smaller ones. ;) Thanks again.
Back to today, we get to the destination and scope out the area we would like to fish. Throw on our gear and our ready to roll. On the way down river we see many dead Sockeye carcasses and not a sign of pinks in the water anywhere. Go for quite a long walk and start to see some rollers. Within 3 casts on a new fly pattern im into a scrappy fish, starts to pull hard and gets off. IH8XC is then into a fish on the spinning gear and it pops off too. Lot's more fish jump but none seem interested in our selections. Finally Dion hooks a good fish, pops off, then retrieves again and whammo the fish hits even harder and starts pulling out line, a 20 or so lbs Chinook explodes at the surface and keeps Dion's rod fully corked, he gains control and it spat the hook.
We venture on downstream and in no time IH8XC is into a couple nice fish.(Pictures below)

And another.

A couple more are hooked, lost and landed by both of us on both stripped flies and spoons. It was just the beginning. On my last retrieve I get a huge hit, then the fish decides to bulldog, once I think im in control its pulls me into backing and a 15 minute fight persues. Lookey what I caught. ;)

Couple quick pics and then released. Everyone was in disbelief that they saw a Chum when it jumped. ;D
We ended up hooking a couple more and IH8XC landing the majority. Quit at around 3:30 and was very satisfied with that giant surprise on the end of my flyline. :)

I wouldn't be surprised about the Chum was out at Nikka in Steveston this morning to pick up a few odds n ends and went down to the fish sales docks to have a peek. Lots of chums on display---dark though--like that chum in the picture.

Outfished? I thought chums rake in more points than pinks? ;)
So would you say yesterday you had an Ultimate Sportfishing experience? ;D

well i landed 8 pinks, he landed one and the chum. ;DSo i do think i won that, except that we played $1 for first fish and $5 for biggest, so i owe him $4.
