Went out to the vedder today not too early left new westminster at around 7am. Stoped by freds to get new line put on the reel( they got a machine and its much faster :P) asked one of the guy if the pinks had showed up he told me yah with not much excitment so i thought it was just the tackle sell talk. The water was very low but there was some rain friday night so i think it helped move some fish up. With the water situation being grim i decided to go to one part of the lower river where its allways deep on one side. When i arrived i was amazed the place was taken over by fly fishermen but there was still room for a floater so i stayed way from the fly guys and did my thing. Pinks where jumping everywhere in the first 10 mins so i was excited cuz the fish were really there but no one was getting any bites at all. The fish seemed to be rolling and jumping all over but the dry fly guys had no luck too so somethng was up. I decided i would go to the other side right into the deep part of the run. When i got there i was amazed the whole bottom was FULL of pinks all nestled by the rocks. I quickly adjusted my depth and did a few runs with pink wool right by there noses and nature had taken its course and a few bucks couldent resist lol. The fish were still very bright and chrome and virtualy no humps so i boinked both of them for smoking. The action was light after that just one or two guys getting some fish. The weird part of the whole day was the mortality rate of the pinks i saw plenty perfectly healthy chrome does beaching themselfs and just floating down river dead :(. This is very weird because the fish were very fresh also to add a huge sockeye buck was also rotting on the beach not a good thing. Anyways the pinks are there now just gotta fish them deep pools they seem to be traped there ,if we get some rain this week i think the fish are gona dominate the river by next weekend.
Good fishing and good luck to ya all.

Probably best choice unless you find a pool with a fresh move from the night before its pretty much a dead show but the fish are definetly there in good numbers.

What pound test leader did you use? ;D
-
10 but oh dont worry i like to be safe with my springs 25 is on standby. ;D
-
floater u use 25 for white springs i use 10 or ever 12 when i cheat
-
:D it dont matter what you use its how you play and handle your fish that counts. i mean you have to have good line and a decent lb test thats for sure. but if you work your catch right you will be amazed at what you can land on smaller lb test line. ;D ;D
-
oct 30th last year got a 40 plus vedder white on 15 lb test in a slower flowing pool of the river.
-
Guys, this isn't a competition... :P :-X
-
Lol if you wana start a mass posted topic just say i use 100lb test on trout lol
-
lol does it matter what anyone uses as long as they catch fish. ::)
-
Seems it does to some. ;)
-
I dont even use fishing line stick on dynamite 5 second fuse works much better ;D
-

People seem to get bent outta shape because heavy line often insinuates snagging.
-
Interesting. Next time someone should say I'm using 80lb braided main and a 2 lb test leader. That shouldn't get associated with snagging :P

I dont get it biffchan why would it do be associated with snagging? I think too many people have been waching sportsfishing bc i think its called with that guy whos name i forget. He allways uses the lightest gear and line for coho in the ocean but i just think its preference dosent say anything bout the persons fishing abilities.
-
For a multiple of reasons. Ever snag a fish while using light gear. Pretty much impossible to land. Also, very hard to get tight lipped fish to attack your presentation if they see a 25lb leader attached. And lastly, because most of the snaggers do use heavy line.
-
Ahh not even gona argue about the whole fish seeing the leader crap again argument that goes nowhere. Second most snagger use heavy line do you know that many snager that you can say that? I know none so i have no clue what they use i also know no one who goes out trying to faul hook a fish all day, its very unproductive :P. So please tell all these snaggers you know to stop using heavier line, giving me a bad name. :)

This discussion has already been done in the general board few days ago, there isn't a need to drag it onto a report thread.
