Nah, CO, won't like it if I kept 20 of those ;D ;D
-
are those carp? ;D
No, they're too ugly to be carp. ;)
-
Is that all pinks? they are really starting to lose colour now last week they were looking better then the sockeye.
-
floater, these pinks are all caught near the Fraser River mouth. They are fresh from the ocean so we rarely see any fish that are coloured, in fact they are so chrome that you often have to double check. :) Occasionally, you'll get into a couple males that already have a large hump, just as Chrome Mykiss. :)
-
cant really see em looks like they are pinks or maybe they be playin hide and seek ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I thought it was a small halibut!!!

Decided to make the most of the pink season and headed out again today, stopped on the way and grabbed a bag of ice, and Im glad I did. Went 4 for 7 today. Started fishing around 2pm and things were pretty slow, between 2 and 4 two fish were landed with help from the same lady who netted my fish yesterday, got my other two fish between 4 and 5 when things really started to heat up. 3 does and 1 buck, looks like the smoker will be going this weekend :D

Few things to remember
- You need a tidal sportfishing licence when fishing in the tidal Fraser River.
- You need to purchase a salmon conservation stamp if you intend to keep your pink salmon.
- Daily quota for pink salmon is four fish in tidal Fraser River.
- Daily quota for chinook salmon is four fish in tidal Fraser River, but only one maybe over 50cm.
- You may only keep four salmon (mixed species) in total per day.
- Only a single barbless hook is allowed on the lure.
- Bait ban is in effect between September 6th and October 7th
- You must release any sockeye and wild coho carefully.
- Pink salmon have large oval spots on their back and tail. Sockeye salmon do not have spots. Chinook salmon have tiny black spots on its back and tail.
- Complete tidal Fraser River salmon regulations can be found on this page (http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish/Tidal/fraser_e.htm).
- Report all fishing violations to DFO Steveston 604-664-9250.
- Make sure you have a good fillet knife to clean your catch and a cooler with ice to keep your it fresh.

I think a good reason that I landed more fish today than I lost is the fact that everytime Id miss or catch a fish I would sharpen my hook and check for line damage.

why do people boot all the males back into the water after catching them or leave them on shore? saw several over the last few days rotting between rocks and saw an older gent with a nice dog placekick one back into the river. is it just the roe that people are after, so the females are more of a score?
another guy came up to me yesterday and said that he gets his buddy to look out and that way, he can take 8 fish home in a garbage bag. i told him that the limit was 4 and he said, "well you're not using the right lure then...you should use a pink hootchie". :(
-
Hmm... People don't boot fish into the water down here. If they do, due to the structure of the shoreline, you're in for a wild ride. ;D
fishersak kept a big male yesterday, so did lucky. Chrome Mykiss and Perch have also been keeping males. Females are preferred because of their roe, which can either be good bait or tablefare.
A good way to catch and release them down here in tidal Fraser River, is to get yourself a catch and release net. For around $40, you can scoop the fish up, keep it in the water, unhook it, grab its tail and gently release it. It's much easier and drier than attempting to tail it.

what type of set up is good for the lower Fraser I'm use to BB or float fishing can i do either on the lower never fished there before any help would be appreciated.
-
For Lower Fraser (Tidal Water), I use small spoon and Buzz Bomb as well as French and Colorado blades.

The Lower Fraser or tidal Fraser is tidal influenced so the current is very slow, which makes any style of driftfishing impossible. What you would need to do is spincast. Cast a spoon, spinner or jig out from shore, allow it to sink for several seconds, and slowly retrieve it. When pink salmon come in large numbers, fish will follow/chase your lure and occassionally bite it. You'll feel taps as you retrieve when this happens, that's when you set the hook really hard. :)
Most fish are caught between 10 and 30 feet from shore. Pink, orange, green coloured lures have worked well. Prime fishing time can be anytime right now, all depends on when the fish are moving in. Bring a cooler filled with ice, as leaving your fish in the water is impossible, it'll just be washed away by the waves from the tug boats. ::) ;)

thank alot guys you've all been a great help wish me luck as my son and i are going to give it a try this afternoon.

What is the law about treble hooks in the fraser? Is it just in tidal water?
