Fished friday and saturday on the west coast. Friday we fished from 7 am till 3pm we hooked over 12 springs all over 20lbs the biggest was a 36 lb whitey awsome day pretty rough water lots of fog. Saturday was hot as well but we did't buy fresh bait this really cost us every boat was fighting fish after fish lots of double headers we landed a nice 12 lbs wild coho and released it. But that was it for us the weather was perfect saturday next time we will buy lots of bait.

The fishing in Sooke has been tough for most of us this year until August hit....and then things changed BIG TIME! Best fishing I've seen in years in Sooke. My boat (which I share with a buddy) landed 45 springs between 11 and 30lbs from Aug7th to the 28th. If you decide to visit the Island for a trip I would recommend blue wolf charters and if he's booked he can suggest another guy (www.bluewolfcharters.com). Some spots have been HOT and others SLOW so it pays to get someone who knows where the action is. Most guides have been limiting on springs on half-day trips (4 or 6 fish) if you hit the right tide....ask when you book. Or send me an email before you come here for a little local info!

Don't wast your time in sooke go to renfrew.
-
Well yeah, Renfrew is always a blast! Limits of springs, halibut and coho...sometimes before noon! But Sooke has been great this month and is hardly a waste of time. I would have agreed with you in July but August has been RED HOT!
-
Well thnx for the info ;D
-
Decided to fish tide change today so we got to sleep in - dropped the gear around 11am and picked up 5 springs in 2 hours this afternoon off Sooke. Awesome bite. Spent another 2 hours looking for our 6th fish but the wives called before we could finish the limit. Biggest was high twenties. Absolute blast.

How has Secetary Isl.,trap shack etc. been? And wut about otter point?
-
I only fish Otter, and it has been a great month there! From what I hear the other spots have been good too but it's been hit and miss for lots of guys. The fish have been there in good numbers for a month now. It's important to get the right depth & spin, but mostly it's all about timing the bite.
-
Ya thats wut I heer.Is it best at dusk.cuz it wuz beginning of august
-
hey guys....what about off the rocks at otter? im one of the lowly saps with no boat access...my grandad used to own a farm out on porier road in sooke, and i fished off the rocks alot as a kid. I'd love to head out there again..have guys been catching from the rocks?
Thanks..

Any recent reports from Sooke?

Check out island outfitters web site updated sept 6 . http://www.fishingvictoria.com/

Nailed 4 nice springs in SOoke this morning....two were high twenties and 2 were low twenties. Excellent day for September. No real heavy bite, but if you were patient and stayed on the spot it paid off big-time.
Clearly there are still lots of springs moving thru on their way to the Fraser.....and it's my job to intercept them. lol.

Where are you based out of ?
-
A friend of my grandparents in sooke landed a 42lb and a 41 today. My grandpa also landed a 34 pound ling cod!
-
SOunds like they had an amazing day LF! I moore in Sooke Hrbr MArina for the summers.....we'll pull the boat out at the end of the month and head over to Saanich Inlet for a couple weeks of prawning and crabbing unless the coho show up strong in which case we may stay in Sooke for part of October - Last year we were getting them up to 16lbs!
-
And i gess when a coho is that big its probably going to fight like 30 pound spring in some cases :)
