Headed out today to the Vedder with my Dad.cWe decided to fish across from peach road and didnt see anything, not even a trout or smolt! Then we thought that was a waste of our time so we headed up to our old spot, hoping it would still be there since the river got blown out sometime ago. We brought or 6wt. fly rods and our drift rods. When we got there we found our spot had gotten even better! So we fished there for about 3hrs. First cast for my Dad, BAM! Fish on! It wasnt a salmon or anything, but a nice sized trout about 2 lbs. Then same thing happened the next two casts. Then we got the occassional bite then not much. Then I got my rod set- up and didn't get anything until I switched up to a Blade. 3rd cast and bam! Spring or Sockeye on!!! I only got to see it once...thats when it jumped out and spat the hook. I estimate it was around 10lbs. and blinding chrome. Got a few more bites, then my Dad and I climbed up on a log and looked down into the pool and saw what looked like a jack spring, a big dolly or a sock. He's just about to cast, when all of a sudden, a kayaker comes down right infront of his line and spookd the fish!!!
Oh well, after that my Dad caught a whitefish and that was the day!
