Title: My first Fly Caught fish!
Post by: DragonSpeed on April 30, 2005, 10:47:26 PM
I actually caught a fish on the fly!  For that matter I caught 5, and missed 2!  Very exciting.  The long winded story can be found here:

One of the fish can be seen here: http://www.fotothing.com/DragonSpeed/photo/a7c3ed09c75911a99b3444d84a4953e2/start=0

Comments welcome at either location.

Given your reputation Brian, how do we know you actually caught it instead of your fighting your friend's fish ?  ;D

I have no friends :(  I was solo today - hence no picture of me holding fish :D

Even more suspicious  :) So where did you "catch" it. Maybe someone can verify that you actually caught it.

Randog - thanks.  It's quite the excitment having a bunch of line pooled around you and handlining in a fish - and trying to play it without the reel basically.

NF: It does look that way, but it's just the angle of the picture.  Other shots (which don't show the fish off as nicely) show the fin.

You can keep wild trout in lakes (presence of adipose fin). In fact, I don't think any fish that are released into lakes from the hatchery would be clipped.

Yeah, in the photo it looks like it's missing a pectoral fin.  Almost Nemo-esque
