Title: Fishing With Roe Bags?
Post by: Bass Master on April 06, 2005, 03:39:31 PM
Just curious but is fishing with roe bags or whatever else is in the spawn sack good for the environment and the fish that successfully remove it from an anglers hook?
Is it biodegradable?
What happens to the mesh after a fish takes it in? Does it cause any problems?

Thanks for the help.

Bassmaster.

Steel hooks are biodegradeable.

I'd be willing to bet that those hooks don't last more than 4 or 5, with the commonly acidic water in most rivers these days.

Hooks may not be the best example, but what about corkies, wool, spin n glos, rubber worms, gooey bobs, jensen eggs, dink floats, and the list goes on and on.

Most likely is not the best but not as bad as all the garbage, sewage, degragation of the reparian zone, logging practices and other pollutants that end up in our rivers and streams.

I wouldn't think it would be that good, however the bait ban will take care of that soon enough anyways.

It's just a proposal, how do you no it will happen?

Because were dealing with the federal Liberals, there only purpose in life is to make ours miserable in B.C. and spend our money on themselves.

The proposed bait ban is a provincial jurisdiction.
