Title: Early Vedder Red Springs

people keep talking about these early red springs. i think there just mistaking for a steelie or something.... ???

They are springs, a few are caught each year around now and earlier. I caught one a number of years ago as did 2:40 Gordie about 5 years back.

Arent they usually up around May? I have never fished for them so just curious.

The river is open for fly fishing only in May from the Vedder Bridge down river. The upper river is closed for the months of May and June. The whole system opens again July 1st. Because of the closures and fly only its hard to tell how many springs are in the system until July 1st. As Chris said, there are a few caught in March or April, but usually not very many.
