Left Courtenay 5:30am and arrived in Port Hardy 8:30am. Got suited up by the hatchery, walked down to where the river was supposed to be and found something that could only be described as a small creek. The lack of rain, warm temperatures and very little snow pack has dropped that river to almost no flow. Talking to a few locals they said they have never seen it in this state. So after a little cursing...we packed up and drove the 300k return trip back.
One can't help but wonder how this extremely low snow pack in much of the province is going to affect salmon returns this year.
