Title: Vedder fishing Feb6/05
Post by: scottm on February 06, 2005, 01:57:05 PM
This will be a brief report i was out this morning mid river the visibility was approx 2-3 feet there was 3 other fisherman near me.I only got 7 casts in before my brand new center pin reel decided to lose the nut and in goes the reel.Yes i did get it back but my nut is somewhere in the vedder so that put an end to my day for fishing, but in the time it took me to gear down 2 out of the 3 guys both caught and landed wild steelheads.

Yikes, not a good start on a new reel. What kind of reel is it?

It is a Trophy Winter Run it is an excellent reel it was only my second trip with it but i was into two fish with it the first time out last week.I wish i had started out with a center pin and just skipped a baitcaster altogether.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Scott and then to have two other fellows hook into steelies in the same run is a double kick to the head. Oh well, how often does stuff like that happen. It will probably never happen to you again and on the next trip I bet you hook in to a couple. Thank's for the update. I was out yesterday and after seeing the snow falling earlier I shivered for any fishermen out doing what they do best. Good luck next trip, Scott. :D

If anyone retrieved Scott's nut from the Vedder today, please send a private message to him for recovery. ;)

That's too bad Scott, sorry to hear about all the frustration, especially when there were fish around to be caught. Next time. :)

Thanks guys i know i hope it will never happen again to anyone,i know i should not plug fishing stores here so i won't mention the name but i will lead you in the right direction. It's in Abbotsford.I took it back and they gave me a new back instead of just a new nut. There was no charge no hassle there are still some good family stores out there. If you are loyal to them they will be loyal to you.

River was fishable from top to bottom for the time i was there.  I left at one.  I didn't hook any myself but heard of a couple and seen a couple caught.  Nice day to be out.
