Title: Stamp River
Post by: Toprod on February 04, 2005, 08:40:23 AM
Has anyone been out on the Stamp this week? If so, how has the fishing and water levels been? I will be bringing my pontoon boat, and would like to do a drift from the gun range down to Paper Mill Park.

Jon a friend of mine was over this week and fished one day and they picked up a few fish. He did not relate the water levels but they were out in one of Murphy's boats

Water levels are at that awkward stage for success from the bank. A tad too high for the better drfits to be good (too fast), and a tad too low for the bank at your toes to be OK. That said, the clarity is great, and she's likely fine from a drifter.
Success has been up and down the dial the last while! We all expected a great rush of fish following the FLOOD, and while a little of that has been realized, it has not proven out to be as great an influx as suspected. Now, that said, a few of the boats have done rather well, and there have been the odd report of success at the chuck line.

Have Fun & DO let us know how you make out!!

Cheers,
Nog

Thanks for the updates. I ended up landing 3 steelhead and one trout, two of the steelers were wild about 6 and 9 lbs each, the hatchery was 10.5 lbs on the scale. There seemed to be a lot of fish moving through, one older guy landed six that I saw.
