Title: Sturgeon fishing.... November 7th
Post by: leaseman on November 08, 2004, 08:04:43 AM
Made it out for 4 hours fishing yesterday and the fishing was the best I have seen ;D We fished just down from the mouth of the Stave and the sturgeon must be stacked 10 deep!! A couple of other boats around us and it was just about non stop action....Can't wait for Thursday...

It's great that you found a "GREAT FISHING HOLE" and had a fun day, but now that you have told the whole lower mainland the exact spot, what do you think will happen next. It will get pounded into oblivion and it won't be a "GREAT FISHING HOLE" for very long. I have fished that area for a long time and have usually been there by myself or with one other boat around. Not any more!!!!! This isn't the Vedder. How about if we try not to be so specific about sturgeon holes in the future. Good "NON-CROWDED" holes are getting harder to find each year.

you have told the whole lower mainland the exact spot,

"Just down from the mouth of the Stave"  isn't exactly pinpointing it.  One guy's "Just", is another guy's "Long way"  ::)

Non crowded holes are hard to find??? I fish sturgeon usually every sunday regardless of time of year or weather and the most I see is maybe 1 or 2 other boats...Usually our boat is the only one around and from Fort Langley to Mission we don't usually have to go any farther than 5-600 yards to find a new hole or a fish!!! I am sorry if I gave away one of "your" holes fishguy4ever :-X

I didn't mean to piss anybody off but a meer suggestion to keep the specifics of location a little more vague. I said "GOOD NON-CROWDED" fishing holes and I did not call that spot mine. All that I said is that I have fished that "AREA" for a long time. :-\

Does it really ever get busy sturgeon fishing????  Come on now, comparing it to the vedder?  When you need a boat that pretty much cuts the traffic down by 90%.  If you can't share a chunk of the fraser with a handleful of other boats then I really dont know what to say!  All sturgeon should be caught and released too so its not like a little extra pressure every now and then is going to clean the hole out, right!

What hooks do you use ? Is it possible to use barbless circle hooks ? My logic that it would take the difficulty of setting the hook out of it, but I don't know about catch and release with circle hooks.

The one last note that ! will make is that all the carcasses floating out of the Stave hit the Fraser and go where??? Down the Fraser so it is easy to figure where to find the sturgeon...We get the odd boat following us or asking questions and unless they are ignorant we help them out..so we are back on track...right ;D

(hey...anyone know of a really hot sturgeon hole ;D)
