Title: New spot Nov 6
Post by: summersteel on November 06, 2004, 07:25:58 PM
Went out with Steely Ryu and Rob. Wasn't as good as we expected, the fish were there but lock jawed. SR did manage to get 3 hatchery coho but only after alot of effort. Rob got a big bright hatchery male 11 1/2 lbs, it was his only take but he capitalized on it. At first light I had all the hits on my fly rod but lost them all, then after I did get one to shore we saw that it was snagged in the pec. So I can't  honestly claim for sure that those first few fish were biters. Bummer!  After the day wore on I did get some coho to bite but I never got one to shore. Of course when a chum would bite I never lost it, go figure. I guess we've been spoiled from previous trips because we did come back with 4 coho. Not too bad on most days.

Good going Bug P. I might head out tomorrow and give it a try, depends on the weather tho. Great to hear there's still some nice fish being caught still.

Thanks Pecan Sam. Its not just me, all my buddies have been having a good year. Ive got to go look at the capilano, I'm bummed by the reports of all the snaggers. Those fish will all hit roe eagerly.

My spot was pretty slow today. Was there at first light with gooey and his Dad, tons of Chums! Managed to land three coho and all were wild, I think Gooey got a wild as well. I did all my fishing with my flyrod and I think that made a big difference- with my slow sinking line I didn't get all the snagged Chum that Gooey and his dad did. I did get some snagged but many less. Some of the guys from spring time Coho fishing at the Cap were there- Dave and his dog, and others. I think it will be slow fishing till we get a decent rain. Had a great time anyway, good attitudes from everyone.  BP
