Fished the lower Squamish today. Saw fish taken on wool, flies, and lures.
We fished the incoming tide, and quite a few fresh fish were moving through. I tricked the same fish twice today. (It had a gash on the back from a seal.) I noticed many people had luck with pink, fire orange, and red. Myself, I had luck with pink, chartreuse, blue, green, yellow, red, orange, and purple. A little bit of flash never hurts ;)
Personally I think the returns are either low or late. Either that or the bar has changed so much(from last year's rains) that the fish are no longer lingering around where we were fishing. Still, plenty of fish to be had.

Well, it wasn't raining too hard, but was steady all day. Sleeves were wet to the elbows. The water was on the rise slightly. Clarity was excellent.

might hit the squamish tommmorw instead of the vedder...do u know when the incomming tide is??

Yesterday at the Squamish I hooked a fish that I had foul hooked about 10min earlier. I had long line relased it and when I hooked it the second time in the mouth I was able to retrieve the hook and wool from its back. I could tell it was my tie up from the wool color and how the knot was done. As the leader was still long enough I was able to reuse the tie up to catch some more fish later in the day.

Fishon, that's hilarious. I was hoping to retrieve a couple spinners and flies after seeing that fish again. But didn't :(
Dan, depends on where you'll be fishing. Today, high tide was at 1:30pm and the fishing turned on between 10 and 11am for us. Tommorrow's high tide is around 2:00.

Does anyone (especially locals) know who was responsible for blocking off the ramp down to the river bank in the Lower Squamish? Apparently it is not blocked now, and the ramps have been redone.... ???
Having cars or trucks down there IMO is not a good idea... Bad for the habitat, and promote poaching (easy transport of fish from river to car).

The secret spot has changed so much in a week I can't believe it!
Last week it was all bright fish...today...corpses everywhere, and all boots.
I was discouraged. It seems like a fast run this year..like its on over drive.
Fished for 4 hours..only 1 keepable fish.
Will try again Monday, but I will be down low, and on a good tide.
Have to battle the crowds I guess ::)

Yes I posted on this on the other side.
They have stayed a long time in the Salt-Brown's Bay to be exact-and now are spawning/dying very fast.
The run is also smaller this year and won't last nearly as long.

As a local I can tell you that river access point was blocked off by the District of Squamish at the urgeing of the local WLAP ecosystem specialist. He is at a loss as to why it has been reopened but he told me he is trying to get it closed again. Way to many idiots ripping up the beach, leaving garbage and other such niceities. No need for that up here. Let's not make this a Vedder scene. Lots of places to go if you want to get off of your fat my friend and walk.

Thanks BBK. Any chance you can email me rodney@fishingwithrod.com this WLAP ecosystem specialist's contact (email better, as I am almost away all the time during the day). I'm surprised not more public pressure has been put on (local residents, environmetal groups, Squamish Streamkeepers, or maybe they have...)?
For those of you who are fishing that section of the Squamish, or any easy access river bank actually, please don't drive down to the gravel. We head up to the Squamish to enjoy that silence while fishing in the river valley between those big mountains. There isn't a need to have 4X4 speeding down the gravel bank. Not only it is noisy, but also dangerous, damaging to the ground. Like BBK said, when you get cars down there, garbage begins to emerge and poaching becomes more frequent. With the water level changing so rapidly after heavy rainfall like this weekend, the garbage disposed would be washed into Howe Sound in no time.

Lasy year some guys in their trucks were raming the concrete blocks to clear a path down to the river. The trucks were getting pretty beat up. I can't understand why these people won't walk 2 min to the river. :-\

last year i was there the same day ,saw that 4x4 ram down to the beach,i quess they had nothing to do with there 4x4...STUPID
