Title: Prediction for the Future
Post by: All Tangled Up on October 19, 2004, 04:22:25 PM
I predict that by the year 2010 75 plus percent of the fishermen on the Vedder will be fly fishing. I use the term 'fly fishing' loosely. I hear lots of people complaining about long leader tactics while drift fishing, or by dragging bottom with your float, while trying to reproduce a flossing technique. After watching the fly fishermen today on the Vedder I have come to realize that the best way to catch Coho is with a 10' leader and cast into the rapids. Just make sure you seem like an elitist because you have a fly rod. I hooked a few springs today, all in the mouth but even with an 18-30 inch leader they were all hooked as though they were flossed. Without starting a huge flossing debate what does everyone think about fly fishing like I saw today?

That's been the rage the last couple of years. Those are the dredgers and liners. I think it's at 75% already. Sometimes I feel as I am the only one on the run shortfloating. I don't understand how a guy can fish five foot float to lead in a run that's two feet deep. Oh well, each tohis own. At least I don't have to fight foul-hooked fish and retie my hook every ten casts.
