Well, this morning I planned to hit the Lower Fraser as there was a good high tide with a ten feet tidal difference, which means a good push of fresh fish. The original plan was to get up at 6:30am, head down to the river at 7am. The alarm clock went off at 6:30am, but guess who snoozed? :-[ 45 minutes later, I crawled out of bed, checked the email and Luke was already wondering where I was. ::) I quickly got ready and headed down to our stomping ground. ;D
Fished between 8am and 11am. Lots of fish rising as expected, mostly chum salmon. The odd chrome coho also showed their fin, some came fairly close to shore. Nothing for me and Luke today, not even a sniff. TtotheE had a brief hookup as he lifted up his rod gently thinking he had a snag. A silver body wiggled a few times at the other end and then the spoon popped out. :-\ Oh well, better luck next time!
Clarity continues to be good, hopefully it'll clear up another foot or two.

Lots of chum and some coho moving through right now, pretty much everywhere. I've heard reports from Delta, Ladner, Richmond. Location is not so important, basically just show up two hours before the tide peaks and look for signs of fish.
What I want to know is, for those who have been getting into chum in the estuary, what jigs/spoons/spinners/flies have you been using? In the past, my success has been on pink or green spoons. So far this year I haven't gotten into fish yet, but then again I haven't done a whole lot.

I fished the lower Fraser with roe tonight for a couple of hours after work until dusk. I had plenty of action, but it was always dollies or sculpins trying to steal my bait. The first hour I had nibbles every five minutes, or so. I eventually hooked one of the bait stealers and it was a small dolly. Just before dusk I caught a small sculpin.
Tonight there weren't as mant risers as last weekend but the highlight of the evening was seeing a 15-20lb steelhead jump about 20' offshore. I hope it makes it to it's spawning destination as I gather the numbers are very low this year for the Thompson fish.

Rodney, I'm curious how long it actually takes a fish like a Coho to make it up from Richmond to the Vedder. I think it's 2 days. Could you please start tagging your fish in the lower Fraser with pink surveyors tape with you number and date on it. That way we could call you when we catch 'em again. ;)
