Anyone else figure out that Chehalis was the place to be today . ;)
-
what was the bait of choice.....heading there next thursday for some action.
-
My friend was there this morning. Not much going on. He moved over to the vedder after a couple of hours.
-
Yep, the Bronto and I were there; don't bother going, there's no fish in the Chehalis! ;)
-
A budy and I hit the chehalis today...water was a bit high for my liking but colour was good and there \was maybe 3 feet.
We hooked 7 coho. 3 long line release and 4 WILD fish...no hatches! smallest was 7 ish biggest was a solid 12lbs.
Tonnes of dogs to and they are all already dirty as anything. we left around 11:30 and it was just starting the rain hard so I cant gaurantee the same water conditions tomorrow. That river as we all know reacts quickly to rain and surprisingly it was consistant for the 5 hours we were there.
-
I think he was being facetious. Didn't the rain blow it out completely???
-
no...the river was nice!even if that river is hish and chocolate i know where to go a what to huck to get them! but today was nowhere near that. The water was in good shape.
-
Remember to leave nothing of value in your vehicles as the Chehalis can be worse than the Vedder for breakins. >:(
A tip, when I go there I park as close as I can to the concession booth so to deter the thieves some what.
-
Not that I want to wade ;) into one of those 'fun' threads, but I wonder about bringing a dog out there. Too many hooks laying about!!!
I couldn't look mine in the face if I had to take it to the Vet with a massive cut or worse.
Hmmmmmm??....
-
why we had difference report regarding this river, the first couple of report said there was no fish at all, nothing happening, and now its said a lot of dirty chum and coho around.i quess nobody tell the truth anymore???
-
We're all fishermen - what do you expect? ;D
-
not all fishermen are liers ;)
-
You're lying! ;D
-
Not all fishermen are liars. but how many extra people will travel to the Chehalis this weekend based on these reports? 20? According to my fishing log, in years past I've had very good luck on this river in years past. But i've noticed a steady decrease in fish in this system. When i fish the chehalis i tend to fish the outlet area more than the canyon.

Hey Big T, in my report you may notice the ;) ;) ;) ;) ;), or not?
-
Anyway - a real report: about 12 cohos caught at the hatchery outlet, mostly by bait fisherman, most jigged and kept, a few honest hook-ups, lots of stale chums throughout, 2 coho caught mid river down from hatchery and mine, end of run down from hatchery. Lots of bear signs still, be careful. I only saw a few coho in an hours worth of hiking, very little happening there yet folks.
-
I don't understand the reasoning of people lying its just fish man. :( :-\ :-[

We did well today also, hooked over a dozen coho each on roe and walked out with limits. First light thing, although there were lots of fish around later on the switch turned off and they just wouldnt bite anymore.
-
When the coho are in and fresh, it doesnt matter what you huck. They will take anything so i usually carry: roe, jensen eggs/wool, spinners, spoons, and my personal fav...home made jigs.

Nice fish Cam, I recognize ya from the KF banquet, I think you were with your old man. I am also a BCFDF member but missed this years event.
