Title: Vedder September 25
Post by: Trout Slayer on September 25, 2004, 01:22:47 PM
Slow day for me and the 4 others I was fishing with. Saw 1 Coho roll all morning. Guys up from us caught 3 chrome white springs doing a milkshake on the surface.....do those things ever stink :-X Chucked roe, blades, wool etc. Hopefully better for tomorrow and the clean up ???

Personally, I think the water needs to go down about another 30cm before its the ideal fishing water. All the years i've fished there its been the best fishing when the water is around .7m deep acording to the river meter. Well the weather looks good for the next week so all i can say is YEEHAA. ;D ;D

Fished the lower river this evening and did touch a thing or see anything rise. Heard of two whites caught in the afternoon, and that's it.

my brother and i, were a little bit luckier. at first lite (middle river), he managed to land and retain 2 very nice jacks.  mid morning we moved below cedar, where i managed to catch 1 chrome jack and 1 (13 lb) white chinook.   as far as cohos, we only saw 2 guys with 1 fish each, walking off the river.

saw some risers, but that's about it.

Hate to say I told you so, but "I Told You So". What do I know though?
I knew the fishing wasn't going to be good today due to this mornings reports, but it was just to nice a day to stay off the river.

A friend of mine picked up 4 jack springs this morning. This week should see the coho start in fair numbers. I remember last year I started fishing early in September and had a lot of empty trips.

Then as October neared they were there but then we had the high dirty water and the season ended all too quickly.

Will start fishing some time this week as my life should settle down some what and we will have the river cleanup behind us.

Hope we have a good turnout topmorrow as a lot of planning and work has gone into the event. I am afraid I have not done as much as I should have due to family committments but Lew, Terry, Rodney, Don, Ben, and Dennis from the CVRCC have picked up the slack as well Frank K and Gwyn have also stepped up to plate to help with the BBQ.

Thanks also to Don C, Rod Toth, and Frank K for the fish donations which should make for some nice eating after the cleanup.

Thanks again to all the above volunteers and the cleanup people which will help make our BC Rivers Day one of the best in the province.

Was going to drive down this morning from Merritt and give it a try but after getting up and getting dressed I thought,  what am I doing its too nice and if I want to fish in a week or two I better earn some points!  So went back to bed and then gardened all day!  Get the Yard work done so that I can fish later!  But it was an awesome day weather wise! 8)

Got to the river at about 1pm yesterday. It was my first time all year. Walked south up the river from Lickman. A lady on the trail said there were lot's of fish being caught. Yahooo!
Personally, I saw 5 large Chinook beached and bonked. Color was chrome to grey, but still nice lookin' fish. Saw no Coho at all while I was there. Had no luck either, and came home with a sunburn to show for my four hours in the glorious sunshine. Hope to go again soon. Good luck out there.
