Fished from first light until 12:30pm yesterday (20th). Started at Lower River, hooked one chrome spring around 10lb but hook popped out after a few minutes. Soon after I landed and kept a 3lb chrome red spring jack. 8) Had a brief hookup for two seconds, and that was it for the lower river. Scouted around mid river later on and didn't find any desired water, but a load of garbage left over by campers near Tamihi, photos to come.
Today (21st), Fishin Chick and I ventured back to the same lower area. This was her first time float fishing for coho and she was pretty impressed. :) Just a sneak preview on what's to come in October. ;D Soon after we started, I landed a coho jack around 1.5lb. She hooked into a spring but again got off after minutes of wrestling. Quite a few fresh fish moving through. Water condition was excellent, still dropping fast. :)

Sounds like a good weekend to try the Fraser for sturgeon or troll the mouth.

I wish I can head off like you do, to fish few work days in row :(
Any way, I am happy to see somebody had fun out there :( Congrats Rodney.
The picture from Tamihi is discusting. I really think city of Chilliwack should ban camping there or impose strict oversee. Man things look like getting worse.

Fortunately my work schedule usually allows me to fish the weekday mornings, but can be tiring as I don't finish work until 9pm. No more fishing until next week! :)
See you at the cleanup hiker.

This is probably a dumb question but what part of the vedder is considered the "lower" part? What's the landmark? Is Peach Rd part of the lower river?
-
I usually refer the lower section as between the Vedder Crossing and down....

<photo removed to save my fast growing bandwidth> :)
i don't want to sound naive, but who overlooks these sites? considering how heavy the usage is, you'd think there were monitors who kept track of violators. most other places would have park rangers or municiple employees that would check up on campers, who in turn, would have to register and pay to use their sites.

Those are some of the issues that arose during our meeting with Fraser Valley Regional District last month. At a moment, the site is simply free and anyone can just set up a camp with no restriction correct me if I am wrong... Progress is being made to push for changes and we shall see them next year.

according to the park board, any crown land that is open to the public must not be impeded by erected structures. unless given written consent, it is considered trespassing, falling under the 'squatters' act. by right the municipality of chilliwack has the authority to disallow camping on the vedder, if they choose to do so.
