Title: Scouting the Squamish scene
Post by: aquaboy24 on September 19, 2004, 07:33:44 PM
Thought I would take the new puppy up to Squamish today to check out some spots for future fishing, and try my luck on some early coho and chum.

4 hours...saw ONE BIG jump. It was chrome....and it was too big to be a coho. Late SPring? Didn't look like a chum....not sure...but it was angry, whatever it was. That was at the Squamish near the Mamquam.

Then up to some places on the Checamus, and Checeye. The natives were pulling the Chekeye, but to no avail. Had one "local" tell me chum salmon never arrive until the last week of October .....I just msiled and nodded, ....then had another one tell me that the chum run was almost over....I just smiled and nodded.

Good day..good weather, and great driving back from Squamish amidst all the British cars returning rom the Vancouver to Whistler rally.

So without smiling Vince....

When do they come. I have forgotten. I know there is a Chum derby in Squamish every year, but just cannot remeber when it is.
