Hey all,
just did my first bow river fishing trip, and thought I would tell you all about it (since I don't know any calgary fisherpeople yet) ;). I decided to drive a bit out of town where the fishing is supposed to be better. I chose a place called 'Fish creek' because you cant go wrong with a name like that. Any how, I nymphed a san juan worm immitation on the bottom, and some other local fly. 3rd cast, fish on! A little, but really beautiful grayling (I had never seen one in real life. they are very nice looking fish). A few more casts, and a 12 inch brown trout. Then nothing for a long while, so I sit and have some lunch on shore, and the guy up stream of me hooks (On a small spoon) a monster rainbow trout, must have been at least a 4# fish!. So I cut lunch short and tried for my monster fish. No luck for me of course, but a few more little trout.
It is a pretty nice river, and I would like to try bottom bouncing soon (just kidding) :o
Anyways, hows the fishing in the vancouver area? Anyone been to the cap lately?
Cheers,
Jon

My son and I fished the Bow River about 2 years ago on our vacation to Alberta. Our cousin has a drift boat and what a wonderful experience. It took us about 6 hours to drift only part of the river and we hooked into a few browns. Its such a magnificent river with beautiful sceneries. I am not much of a fly fisherman but it looks like the river is a haven for fly fishermen.
