had an awsome time at ambleside last night. Me and Adanac went from 7 till 10 . in the earlier hours we hooked andots of huge bull head ranging from half a pound two 2 pounds. Some were huge. At about 9 me and Adanac put out the dogfish gear :P. by then it was pitch black. we were waiting and waiting and then at about 10 o clock Adanacs bel starts goin ding ding ding ding ding ding ding hook set..... FISH ON!!! a nice dogfish about 29 inches. we decided to keep this one since we heard that it is pretty good. so we blead it guted it skined it and then put it in a bag with lemon juice then ate it this moring. And boy was that fish good. taste like rockcod or even better. Awsome fish. gonna go back tonight. o ya nd right after we caught it we left.

How did you cook it ?

Sounds like Sushi style :o

its a good idea to drain the blood out of the two veins that run down the length of the filets inside the fish once you have gutted them, just poke a hole in the veins with the knife and use your finger to force all the blood out. I also had some good dogfishing at ambleside last week, caught a really huge ratfish, has to be the weirdest looking thing ive ever caught, same night i landed 8 dogfish

watch out for those ratfish..they have a nice sized spin that hurts when its driven into your hand.....I had one do it to me on a night dive up in Quadra Island. Went right through my 7mm glove.
Sounds like I need to make a trip down to the shore again at night for a dogfish run.
Try it BBQ'd after you treat it witht he lemon juice....awesome!

If we are talking about the same fish,,,, I have been told that RATFISH can make a person seriously ill if not fatal! May not be true but it was a guy off a fishboat on the island who warned my son when he caught one. They have some cool colours and patterns!
I didnt know that people ate mudsharks!(dogfish)

Have heard people eating dogfish but not ratfish. That's a first for me.
