Well myself and Sandhead headed back to port for round two we left aug22 and arrived at 1 o'clock .We started fishing by 3pm 5 min after i lowered my down rigger sea bass on catch release. 45 min later pop goes my rod i set the hook 16 lber to boat 5min later into the live well great start to day one. About 30 min later fish on mine again get it close and it was a nice spring but a couple head shakes and it's gone. So sandhead decides to switch to my set up and gets me to rig up what would be a very lucky set up the hole time we are there.15 minutes after he lowers his new set up bamm fish on 17lb spring netted in the live well . 45 min goes by and Sand heads got a monster on a 25 lb hog we land it .The fishing was turning on but the sun was setting so we pulled up and flew back to the marina .Next day was incredible on our way to the hot spot we spot two orcas we got fairly close trying to snap a pic but they were spooked and swam away. Fished hard all day two but got out to late in the morning and missed the tide change.Went to the pub had some very fresh caught halibut YUMMY. Quicly we rushed back to our hot spot and we lucked out the bite was on 15 min after we got out there we hooked one but lost it to head shakes. We then had some real excitment Sand head s rod pops and starts screaming beforehe can even get to it this was a definate TYEE he fought for a while and slack we lost another one.10 minutes later mine pops fish on while im getting to mine pop goes sand heads Double header he goes to set the hook and his rod snaps in two just above the reel but his fish is still on. I lose mine after about 5 min so i pull all the gear up and try and help SH with his newly created 3 peice mooching rod we fight it for about 5min together him holding the upper 2/3 of the rod while i work the reel but we lost. We hooked several more but lost all today was not our day.We head back to camp for dinner and sleep . Wake up early to trenchal down poor SH IS NOT IN HIS TENT DUE TO THE 4 INCHES OF WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF HIS TENT.HA HA. So after 5min of purseding the frozen SH to come fishing for the last half day out there we headed out to the hot spot in time for the morning tide change. . 20 min go bye 13 1/2 lb spring netted then i hooked into a really big one probably my biggest salmon on the end of my rod ever of course i loose it. Then its SH turn he hookes and lands a 16lber and our coolers are full time to go. Don't think i will be fishing the fraser for salmon anytime soon this place rocks whales hudge springs hudge coho no gong show where else would want to go .Thinking of heading back in the next two weeks for the big northern cohos maybe break the marina record of 27lbs caught last year. Hopefully SandHead will post the pics as my camera batteries conked on me. tight lines

Hey there bigguy can't say i know him but everyone in the area is very friendly and helpful . People there are willing to share advice hotspots etc great bunch of canadians living in the area. Im thinking of buying a lot there so when i retire i can catch tyees everyday there are so many water bodies besides the ocean there. I could only imagine what the steelheading would be like not to mention the cuttie fishing at the west end of lake cowichan. I have some friends who live in lake cowichan they catch and release 30" cutties when the sea runs are in the lake.
