Saw lots of stinky whites caught / snagged in the chilliwack today.
Heard of a few cohos taken off the fly....
Need a bit more rain i think for the cohos to really arrive....

People are limiting out on the Vedder, but they are still very finicky. Time to get the heatpacks...
Took a peek around the toilet bowl as well before the weekend and there was no fish yet. Doesn't even smell like it yet.

yea very spotty, went to the same spot today and i missed a couple bites and landed one where yesterday was nonstop bites until 10am.

Swung by again today, absolutely dead by the time I got to the river. Checked both near the confluence of the Sumas and the Chedder, as well as upstream; Everyone told the same tale, it was dead once the sun came up.
I find it funny since it would have been about a 1 hour window legally for everyone to have limited out. Lots of people with full stringers, who knows how early they were there though.
Not to mention it was extremely packed, and it's a Monday... Much worse than last month during Pinks/Springs.

drove past the Stave on the west side today, river looked low and not many vehicles parked on the roadside other than a new construction site and a ton of construction vehicles
that plus the day use area still closed this fall ( I emailed them this summer and they needed an extra year to stabilize the soil)
plus the #7 all through Ruskin is torn up and re routed heading back towards Maple Ridge, its not looking very user friendly there for the 2025 season lol

You mean the Ruskin park parking lot is still closed?

I am on the Community Relations Team with BC Hydro, and your inquiry was passed my way. Thanks very much for taking the time to reach out.
Unexpected complex soil and rock conditions discovered on site prevented us from completing work in 2024, as hoped. Overnight work is needed through most our 2025 to address those challenges, and expedite the construction timeline to complete the project as soon as possible. As we continue the crucial work to repair the sinkholes and address geotechnical conditions on site, the parking and picnic area at Ruskin remain closed. This closure is expected to last until work is completed in early 2026.
I appreciate the community is eager for the Ruskin picnic site and parking area to reopen and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

though in other semi related news Hydro is now on task for the Hairsine inlet floating bridge replacement just to the north on the Hayward reservoir trail after I think about a Millenia so they will have something to end the year with~

Honestly it would be good to keep the crowds under wraps with the closure, not good that I imagine a ton of people will still illegally park and cause the annual fall community outrage...
There are still ways to get to the spots along the Stave at least. Good to know the picnic site has a projected end date, when I talked to the security guard a while ago he just gave me a shrug.
