Title: Fishing in the Nicomekl River between Crescent Beach Marina and Wards Marina
Post by: Hunter on July 29, 2025, 01:05:13 PM
How is it this time of year? Maybe some powerbait for some rainbow trout? Looking to fish in the area with my dinghy, between Crescent Beach Marina and Wards/Elgin Heritage Park. Any tips for this time of year? I know it's not the big salmon run yet, but I wanna go now!!

Also, like to eat what I catch. Good idea or no? What can I keep and eat? Rainbow trout ok?

I can't claim any particular knowledge or experience there but my guess is if you fish as you intend you won't catch any rainbow trout. You will likely catch some sculpins(bullheads) and perhaps the odd small flounder. Truth is you are unlikely to catch a rainbow in any of the small streams or rivers in the lower mainland west of Chilliwack. Cutthroat maybe. All those fish would have to be released. Be sure to read the regulations for Region 2 particularly the part right at the beginning that states no wild trout from streams can be killed and retained.
