Title: Looking for an Elk River Update?
Post by: cdjk123 on July 05, 2024, 05:08:22 PM
Hello hivemind,

I'm headed out to Fernie to fish for some cutties. I'm wonder if anyone has driven through Fernie/Sparwood recently and can give a report on the water height and clarity? Even better if you can give a fishing report on the tributaries... :)

Thanks,

I’ll be in the East Kootenays for a week starting Monday, however not on the Elk River system ( and no cell service either!) so I can’t provide any real time updates.

Having said that, I do keep an eye on these two Elk River stations at Natal and Fernie:

East Kootenay rivers are dropping, but it remains to be seen how this heat wave affects the melt and river levels. We are going a little on the early side so hopefully the water isn’t too cold and we see some stones coming off. I’m armed with some Stimulators just in case!
