I missed the entire winter steelhead season so this was a good substitute. :D

That's because you haven't taken me to MacDonald's or dim sum yet. ;D

Let me know next time you're in town. Lunch is on me.

Any rumours about potential winter kills this year?
If I recall, last year had a sort of perfect storm of conditions that seemed to cause atypical widespread effects. Enough that FFSBC even had blog updates about it.

Heading out on Saturday for a day trip near merrit. Any lake suggestions? Wanting to try a new lake
(not Marquart, Harmon, Paska or Lac le juene). Fly or gear available, looking for action (aren't we all ::)) but prefer 16+ inch fish. Any suggestions? 2WD only. Feel free to message me privately if you want. Thanks

I was at Tunkwa May 2-7. First 4 days was fantastic fishing. Good size fish and lots of them. Third day was the best day fishing I’ve ever had there. Day 5 was only on the water for an hour and a half when the wind came up big and was forced off. Day 6 the wind was even worse and I didn’t even launch. Got into some bigger fish. Got broken off by one chubby fish, most likely my fault from getting over excited 😆.

Dress a little more feminine and use some subtle perfume Rod, you'll catch more fish. They can tell the difference. Fish hate the smell of testosterone. ;)

Fishing with Rod as opposed to Catching with Rod

Linda did the catching. Rod did the watching.

Is August a slow month for these Lakes? That's when I have some free time.

from what I've read, yes. So was my experience late july last year. Though it is dependent on weather which will affect the insect activity. Higher elevation the better obviously. This is a new video of Brian Chan and GofishBC

The lower elevation lakes, particularly below 4000ft will mostly be in the doldrums and fishing will be slow. Even then fishing early, late in the day or at night can be productive. Lakes with an algae bloom also can do well as the bloom keeps the heat from penetrating and usually reaches just a few feet below the surface. Fish just a bit below that. Higher lakes that are getting towards 5000ft can be still be productive. Lakes like Bolean, Spa, Arthur and those on the Nehaliston Plateau have been known for their good summer fishing.
