Title: Nanaimo People.... Can you help
Post by: jettabambino on July 07, 2021, 01:13:53 PM
Hi Island people.   Headed with the family for a week to nanaimo   I was looking at stuff to do.   Thinking of going crabbing or doing fishing.  Would love to go for trout but its going to be hot and i wont have a boat.  Probably wont have much luck from the shore?

Wondering if anyone can help me out.  I will be with the kids.  I dont need to know honey holes but would love to be pointed in the right direction.

Westwood Lake has a public (City) Park with a picnic area. Quennell's shoreline is pretty much all private. Spider Lake has quite a bit of public access but is a bit of a drive north.

Not a Nanaimo person myself, but we have fam that lived on Long Lake.

I'm more familiar with the west end of the lake where there is public shore access via a trail, and Loudon Park which has a fishing dock.

The Colliery Damns is a great area to take kids , they can fish from shore with bobber and worms or spinners. Some great swimming areas. And the area also has bathrooms.

Grew up in Harewood , hung out alot there as a kid in the back in the 60s.

 Good times
