Not sure what you are asking. Are asking about trout fishing opportunities in the Vedder itself by methods that selectively avoid steelhead smolts or for alternate opportunities on other water bodies?

Stricktly trout fishing on the Veeder River system during April May June and to try and avoid Steel head smolts

There is no fishing in the river in June, and fly fishing only in May. Hatchery Steelhead smolts that are caught in July onwards are encouraged to be kept last time I checked so they don't compete with the wild fish.

Large numbers of smolts are often encountered late in the season. Some of the local sloughs have cutthroat fishing in May and into June as the trout move away from the heavy sediments load in the Fraser as it moves into freshet, at least so I have heard. They are all c&r and it's best to use artificial lures for that reason.

There are many venues you can fish other than the Chilliwack/Vedder.
Expand your horizons.
