Just got this info.
A sockeye recreational fishery will begin tomorow night from the Hwy. 7 bridge to the Fraser. ;D
Also the Marine Area of the Fraser will close between the 8th to the 12th.
This closure will effect the river as we move upstream and when we reach the 10 to 12% harvest rate below the Sumas and will move further upstream above the Sumas when 12 to 15 % is reached.
Figure that out if you can. ???

Sorry for sounding a little out of it, but what do you mean by the Marine Area?
-
I think he means the mouth of the fraser. The closure will be in place to protect the cultus lake sockeye. Hopefully this will mean the end of the commercial openings as well. The bulk of the summer run sockeye aren't even in the fraser yet. Not sure how to interpret the closings around the sumas area but I think the fishing next week should get better.

Not certain myself but it could mean to the Mission Bridge as it is deemed Tidal. Will check while at the RCMP meeting tomorrow.

Sorry yes the Harrison, must be getting tired. Wait for the official notice to be posted as it may not be official yet as I get these advanced notices some time before theyare posted..

Yes not even a nibble saw one sockeye come up over the riffle below me when looking for lost weights. Could not even find one of them, weights that is. ;D
Our next bar fishing trip will be when some of us from CVRCC go out on the 12th to see if we can get some for the BC Rivers Day cleanup barbeque. ;D
I have "Operation Barby" on my mind tonight. ;D ;D

Like others I'm baffled by what the DFO is trying to say. Perhaps if DFO 's notices are written in simple concise English more anglers can understand what is or is not allowed.
