Have to agree with CG's post, fishing was great today. My dad and I boated 2 springs (14 & 30lbs) and 4 socs today. Fishing was sporadick but when wave of fish came thru there would be a brief period of heavy activity.
Fished 5 hours for 6 fish so I can't complain!
had too much sun and was up early so will post pics (or at least try) later.

Went out tonight around Chilliwack area. Action was really slow, had one on briefly. Some guys that I talked to who were fishing all day said the action was really slow as well. I tried a couple different bars. Hope it picks up tomorrow...

Got a report today of about 20 sock's and 3 springs hooked (1 beached) from daybreak to 3:00 pm...doesn't seem to be screaming.
I went to the Veddar and played, plus scouted out this falls coho spots. ;D

Had to go by myself as no one responded to my offer :'( Oh well, I anchored above Grassy at 3:30 and put the first Sock in the cooler in 4 casts. Two more casts and another on, but I lost him at the boat :'( 20 min. later #2 was in the cooler. Pulled anchor and went up river a bit and found deeper water to set my rig for springs. Sat in the boat and ate dinner (no candles or wine :'(). At about 5:30...Spring!, my rod jumped to attention :D A fish had taken the bait! 10 min. later, I had a nice 22lb. spring. My challenge to everyone is to hold a 10 1/2' rod with a 22lb Spring in one hand and a net in the other and try and get the two to meet. Must have been funny for anyone watching ;D

Yup, just like your head. I use my drift rod with 20oz. and a Glo with a rub of smelly jelly. Plop it over the side & wait.

Hey Fish 4. Notice the quote "plop it over the side". I cast about 5'. Once the spring is on, you don't notice the weight until it's at the boat. I've never bar fished from shore. You do need big 15' rods for that as I understand it.

On a different note,myself and my buddy Moe did a little sturgeon fishing last night.In 2 hours of dark fishing we hooked 3 fish ,landed a 5 footer and lost another right after it was hooked and we also lost what I estimate to be at least a 10 ft fish.This monster took line so fast and with such ease I thought that maybe the drag was too loose,so like a bonehead I reach over my friends shoulder and tightened up the lever drag a little .That was the worst thing I could have done as this fish easily snapped my 100lb mainline.Always check the drag before you begin fishing,if I would have checked the drag I would have known that we had a true monster on the line and not a lightly set drag.This fish would have been alot to handle for 2 guys in the dark ,but I would have welcomed that challenge anyhow.A few members from this site and myself are heading out sunday again,hopefully we get another chance at a monster.If you've never tried night fishing for sturgeon youre missing a very cool experience.Oh yeah,I encountered at least 20 boats driftnetting ,poaching is alive and well in the Fraser valley as usual.

Ok, remember, i'm new here... but I have 2 questions.
1.) Can you legally fish for Sturgeon?
2.) Can you legally fish at night?
I don't get it.

Does the rule of no fishing prior to one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset apply to sturgeon fishing ?
