Title: CO's out Checking
Post by: chris gadsden on July 28, 2004, 10:48:10 PM
In response to DK's concern about the mishandling of fish etc. I told the Conservation officer of the concern today but I sent him to the wrong area. He checked between Peach and Lickman Road today an found things in order he told me.

I now understand the Ranger run is of some concern so he will be paying that area a visit in a day or so. Once things get going at KWB this Fall it will be getting lots of attention as well.

Thanks for the heads up.

Good job.  Glad to see the CO's respond so quickly.  Hopefully they will not find anyone doing anything wrong if you know what I mean.  But come down like a ton of bricks on any malefactors.

Way to go Chris!!!!  My buudy got a $75.00 fine about 5 years ago because he "kicked a pink back in the Fraser".  In reality, he pushed it back with his foot, but it tought him that he should not have beached it in the first place.  Sometimes a little fine goes a long way.

Yes it helps to have the inforcement out there. I have been keeping in close contact with them with nearly weekly calls re violations.

Also the CVRCC has been contacting the RCMP and have had illegal campers removed from the Vedder Crossing bridge down.

The top half is in the FVRD area and they will be bringing in a recreational corridor soon and no camping will be allowed except in designated areas.
It is too bad but some people will not cleanup after theirself so they will have to pay the price in two ways.

Camping fees and the loss of some lovely areas that they use to be able to camp in.

Of course this bylaw will have to be enforced.

Chris, how many CO's working the Chill. district these days?
I believe 3 but through some political connections i am trying to get it increased but a tough go. I am working on a meeting in the Fall with my Cabinet Minister to try an increase it.
