Title: Sooke Pedder bay prawning
Post by: BwiBwi on December 12, 2016, 03:44:23 PM
Family will be visiting friends near sooke.  Planning on fishing for some winter springs and may be some prawning and crabbing if it's worth a try. I've searched the internet it seems crabbing can be good in the area but I can't find any info on prawning.  Is it not productive or people just don't talk about it?   Any help is much appreciated.

I believe that Sooke Harbour and Basin as well as Pedder ( area 20 ) are currently closed for most shellfish

Thank you.  However, those are bivalve closures.  Not for prawns.

There's good crabbing in the Sooke Basin and in Beecher Bay. Not sure about Pedder as i don't fish over that way. Not too many people prawning because the currents are to strong and you need a lot of weight as to not lose the traps.
