Title: Harrison
Post by: armytruck on October 06, 2016, 10:00:55 AM
Good numbers of Chum pouring into the Harrison . Lots seem to be fairly dark . We hit it at first light Wednesday with a few battles . After that the chum kinda turned off the bight . Throwing everythying at them but no take downs . Heard of 1 Coho caught on a spoon . Moved farther up river near the mouth of the Chehalis , again lots of dark fish ,no keepers . Fantastic day , couldn't of asked for a better day to play hookie from work  ;D .

Thanks for the report! Heading out there on Sunday and Monday with the kayak - hoping to battle a few nice Chum and Coho if all goes well. Were you twitching jigs in the morning?

Twiching , Spoons , Colorados, Wool. Seen a couple guy's drifting under the rail bridge in kayaks on my way back to the launch . I caught the first chum on a blue fox #4 orange at first light . Lots of guys using small jigs on a short float . Buddy had all the luck with purple and green wool . I tried with the same but the big buggers didn't like me I guess . Busy for a wednesday that's for sure . Should see more Coho coming in soon there . Also a ton were coming up into the mouth of the Harrison in the eveining compared to in the morning . Good luck . Good Times .

have you tried a cerise & purple jig fished shallow under a float?
My experience with Chum has been that they really key in on that color combo.
Tipping the jig with a small piece of prawn tail also adds to the success

Anything purple is a lock for chum. They like purple more than Prince did.

it's pretty rare to catch a clean chum in the Harrison. Surprisingly most I've taken were later in the season.
