Don't see to many salt chuck reports here however . I have a question I hope to get some tips . My question is ; What is the better tide to fish , high slack or low slack or in between ? . I'm planning a trip in the morning (Small craft WEATHER PERMITTING) out by the coal port . Just would like an expert opinion . High tide is around 8:17 am .

I like the high an hr prior thru to slack and an hr or 2 after. Coal docks can be good spot at times. Good luck report back.

Get out fishing at first light, fish until 2 hrs after high slack. I would make sure your back to the launch on the spit by noon, The launch is horrible lower then 8' tide.

Well , arrived an hour before high tide , winds around 5 knots + . Wasn't the greatest conditions with 2 to 3.5 ft. Chop . Not ideal conditions for trolling or even getting over to the coal port . I did make one attempt and turned around and hid behind the breakwater hanging out with the sea lions . Should have just brought the crab pot . Ended up calling it a day as the seas weren't calming anytime soon . :'(

It depends. Some spots fish better on a low and others on a high.
