Well....we hit the ocean yesterday afternoon. We used "feather fishing" ...a leader with about 10 hooks, and feathers attached to each to produce a nice amount of sandeel bait, and a bunch of mackerel. NICE mackerel...about 1 lb each.
Anyways....then we headed out into the deeper water to go "wrecking".....fishing around the wrecks of the English channel. We were able to catch some decent sized pollack (in the bins)..but the bass we were targeting weren't around.
Tonight I am heading out with the dive gear on to hit some nice sized sole with a hand spear.
I will email rod with some pics shortly...and hopefully he can post them.
Cheers for now, and save me a sockeye!

Nice fish ! Can I assume that it's a pout ? If the British can eat mud shark, surely they can find a way to eat pout. ;)

All of my talk of non barbed single hooks, Fraser river near punch ups, and biodegradable crab trap panels has them all crying in their superior beer.
But my close cuz is coming over in December, and if anyone can help him catch a steelhead....we are in!
more pics to come

Yes mackerels are oily fish. Highly recommended by dietians for their high omega 3 fats, along with herring, salmon and trout.
-
LOL ! Short answer NO. Canned mackerels in tomato sauce is not too bad. Apparently fish with high omega 3 fats contain alot of the good cholesterol, helps to prevent heart attachks by offsetting the bad cholesterols such as eating McDonalds.

Fresh mackeral rolled in oatmeal and panfried is good,
even better lightly smoked then 20 or so minutes in a med oven with a honey and caper glaze is awsome. all above should be filleted first
