Title: Canoe rental at lower mainland lakes?

Thinking of taking my young son out fishing on Monday and would love to rent a canoe for a couple hours and fish for trout with him.


Any local lakes (preferably stocked) where I can rent a canoe to take him out?

If I remember correctly, there is canoe rental just outside the entrance into Buntzen Lake... Not entirely sure so maybe someone else can confirm.

Bunzen Lake,  go to the sunny side corner store located just before the gated entrance but call for the hours as not sure if she is still doing it and what the hours are for service.

Deer lake in Burnaby, you can rent canoes, kayaks, rowboats and pedal boats.

Don't know what's in there for trout these days, I know there's lots of really small bass, sunfish around.

In the past canoes could be rented at Grant Narrows at the bottom of Pitt Lake. Canoeing over to Widgeon Slough has long been popular

I was up at Grant Narrows this week.  Rentals are going strong.

I would suggest Dear Lake if you want closer to the city.  Small lures with worm or a bobber and a worm around any drop offs and along the lilly pads should give you a lot of success.  Might not be trout though...

If you have a truck or a way to transport a canoe.  You can rent them from Burnaby Lake and take it away.  They offer "offsite rentals".

They you can hit any lake you wish.

MEC will rent canoes and paddles.
