This absolutely infuriates me.

Parks are for everyone. NOT just for the people who can afford to go to them!

It's shameful, disgraceful and an injustice that families are literally being priced out of our Parks...we have tens of billions of dollars to build a dam, billions of dollars to build a bridge, subsidize hundreds of millions of dollars every to the oil and gas industry, yet we're being forced to pay more and more to use our Parks seemingly every year?  it is just sad...

if they are going to increase services and upkeep than i have no problem. if it just goes into general revenue well than thats bs.

There is a "private" campground on the other side of the highway (forgot the name) that always has space.  But you get a freight train going past in the middle of the night.

Paradise Valley across the highway from Alice is very good for kids.

Thanks, I've not heard of this one!  Crazy the stuff you can miss that's right under your nose.

Good luck with the fishing - I have never found Alice Lake that good, either for fishing or camping - its crazy busy, party central and the sites have no real privacy.  I loved it in my 20s mind when I was one of those hoons! Nowadays I prefer a bit more authentic - did Birkenhead Lake with the kids last year, bit further but really, really nice. Thanks again to the posters on here who gave me some advice on where to fish.

Okay, I feel like a bad guy now - congrats on even getting a reservation there! I'm probably just bitter about that. ;)

If you want to try another place too, I highly recommend montague harbour: http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/montague/

Very kid friendly and the fishing for shiners is great fun - I even caught a beauty striped surfperch there. The racoons are fiendishly good at stealing your food however - they will unzip backpacks and tents even.
