As some of you know Chris Gadsden is stepping down from the Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Society. Chris has been involved with the group since its inception in 2002, and has served as chair for over 10 years. Since 2002 he has overseen nearly 27,000 hours of volunteer work removing over 100 tons of garbage from the riparian area of the river we all love so much.
He has been the glue that kept this group together over the years, and his leadership and strong work ethic will be missed. All anglers who appreciate this river owe Chris a big thanks, and I’m proud to be the first here to do so :)

Thanks a lot Chris for your dedication.

Thanks Chris!

Thanks Dave but it has been the past and present directors and the support of many including our great volunteers and Adopt A River Groups that made the Chilliwack Vedder River Watershed a better place place for all. At last count around 100 metric tonnes have been removed from the riparian zone of the river. One can only imagine the mess out there if it had been picked up and prevented being washed down river to the Fraser River and out to the ocean as well.
As well we have had great support over the years from the City of Chilliwack , Fraser Valley Regional District, George Shaw from Chilliwack Tim Horton, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Fishing with Rod, Chilliwack Fish and Game Protective Association and many others too numerous to mention.
Hopefully some younger people will be taking the place of us older directors that have retired from the CVRCS this year and in the past.
I will continue to put bags along the river as in the past and pick up garbage as I see it and will be continuing working with the Fraser Valley Salmon Society as we continue to clean up the Fraser River with yearly cleanups on that system.

Well said Dave! A well deserved recognition of a guy that has worked tirelessly for the environmental health of the Chilliwack Vedder River system. And I know he may slow down a bit in his official capacity, but will continue to care for the well being of the area! Proud to have worked with you all these years!

Thanks Chris, I know myself and many others appreciate everything you have done for the Valley and surrounding areas!

I have had the pleasure to meet Chris many times at the CV cleanup events. His savvy, hard work, dedication and enthusiasm have been unparalleled. Let's hope that the Valley has nurtured someone who will be able to fill Chris's big shoes.
Thank you Chris. My hat is off to you. (http://www.exeweb.com/forums/images/smilies/LLL.gif)

Last winter was my first season fishing and steelheading...my second time out to the Vedder i parked at the prison run and I'm pretty sure it was Chris who I bumped into as he was coming back to his vehicle with a beauty steelie. We chatted for a few minutes, he showed me what he used and where he caught it. He then asked if I wanted the roe.... With a huge smile I obviously accepted the roe as I had none as I really had just started fishing that season so didn't have any roe.. I went and cured that roe and in turn caught a few steelhead myself and other species that in turn gave me more roe so the cycle started. I'm not out at the Vedder often and never bumped into him again to really thank him and share the story but from the few minutes we spoke you could really get a good feeling for someone's character...
